Meet the Team Awesome Chapters & DIYers!

Team Awesome may be small, but we are growing all the time!   Meet our three official chapters in Chicago, Boston, and California.  They are all very different teams with one very similar goal-- to help make a difference in the life of a child with cancer!

Team Awesome Chicago is the original chapter that started it all. They represented TSWGO in the Chicago Half Marathon last Fall, and they recently ran in the Chicago Ragnar Relay Race, the Chicago Half Marathon, and the Chicago Marathon with a combined fundraising effort of almost $1,000 for TSWGO! The team is currently training for the Chicago Marathon (October 9, 2016)! Team Awesome Boston

Team Awesome Boston includes TSWGO founder Lori Earl, mother of Esther Earl.  Their participation in the 5K walk at the DC CureFest last September marked Team Awesome's very first race! They recently finished their fantastic 5K Fun Walk on September 11, 2016. Click HERE to check out some of the awesome and hilarious photo booth pictures from the event!

We are so proud of Team Awesome Cali for completing the San Francisco Marathon, and for raising $622 while doing it!  They have previously shown just how incredible nerds can be by participating in a Beast Spartan Race last October.  Their latest adventure is the Berkeley Half Marathon on November 20, 2016. Click HERE to show your support!

Meet some of our DIY-ers!

Our DIY-ers are those who chose to create their own "awesome for Esther".

Check out their awesome stories and help them in their cause!

Becca is an amazing person who has chosen to use her gifts in athletics and running for TSWGO due to her personal experience having a family member with cancer.  In 2014, Becca's father, Jim, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and after a year of battling, he eventually passed. Reflecting back on her experience, she says that she "couldn't imagine a family battling the same fight with their young child." She has made it her mission is to assist these families that are more vulnerable to the financial hardships associated with cancer treatments.

Becca recently ran in the Fox Valley Marathon and raised $795 for TSWGO! This race was especially dear to her because it was located in the streets of her home town, where her running career began. Her father always supported her in her running, and she hopes to continue to use her gifts to "honor of him and the beautiful person he represented". Check out more of Becca's awesome story HERE.

Through her volunteer work with the St. Baldrick's Foundation, Megan has found a great love for helping pediatric cancer related charities. This Star Won't Go Out is the newest addition to her long list of volunteering and fundraising, and she couldn't be more excited!  She hopes that people will support her in her efforts to "bring peace of mind to families who are trying to maintain as normal a life as possible."

Megan is currently training for the final event in the Boston Athletic Association Distance Medley, and you can show your support by donating on her page!  Check out more of Megan's awesome story HERE.
